Longfield and crew look for nostalgic ‘five’

Norm Longfield and his front-engined nitro-burning nostalgia dragster in action
Norm Longfield will be looking to complete an Australian first this weekend at Willowbank Raceway when he attempts to break the ‘five second’ barrier aboard his nitro burning front-engined nostalgia dragster.
With a best performance of 6.07 seconds to date, Longfield and crew might just be able to make it, as they take to Willowgank Raceway this Saturday February 20 alongside almost 200 other nostalgia racers for the Nitro Magazine Nostalgia Drag Racing Series.
“We have never been to Willowbank, Sydney is our home track and so we are really looking forward to taking the dragster to new ground and seeing how we go,” said Longfield.
“We don’t want to jinx ourselves, but it would be great to reach it and it would be a great thankyou for the crew, who put in such a mammoth amount of work to get us to the race track.”
Nostalgia Outlaws, Nostalgia Fuel, Junior Fuel, Gas, Slingshot, Classic Bike, Outlaw Bike, HAMBster, Vintage Gas, ASRF Hot Rod, US Muscle and Aussie Muscle racers will all take to the track for the day and night trip down memory lane.
Fans can also get in on the action themselves, with an open-to-the-public ‘Pit Lane’ Show and Shine taking place alongside the racing at Willowbank Raceway.
Qualifying starts from 10.00am while racing is from 5.00pm, with Longfield and crew to complete three passes racing the clock, with the first opening the night’s racing proceedings around 4.00pm, followed by two further passes during the night program.
